VoicePulse is a privately owned company based in North Brunswick, NJ. It launched its VoIP service in April 2003 in its local geographic area, but has since expanded to offer service in most of the US. In August 2005 it cut the monthly price of its America Unlimited plan by $10.00 to $24.99 per month. It also offers an Open Access plan for customers who have their own VoIP equipment. This includes 500 minutes for $9.99 per month, but is only available as a second line to one already under contract with VoicePulse.

In September 2005, VoicePulse joined the global VoIP peering Alliance (managed by Xconnect) which allows VoicePulse to increase the range of countries it provides access to, at reduced cost.
